I'm on a Blogging Roll

I'm on a blogging roll. In fact I am addicted and seeking professional help. Last night I stayed up till midnight reading this blog:
http://www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/

A young couple from Mesa were in a Plane crash, they survived, the pilot did not. However they are really in bad shape as you can imagine. Both sustaining burns, the girl on 80% of her body, the guy 30%. It is tragic really, but also very inspiring the way the family is dealing with it. You can read about that on.
http://www.cjanerun.blogspot.com/

I personally don't know them, but am fascinated by the story. The nieniedialogues is the blog she had going before the accident. The blog in itself is fun to read and mind boggling at how talented she is, but is made poignant knowing the current circumstances. I hope the family doesn't mind me posting this-but they are taking donations and things like that, you can read about that too-

I just had to share this one.

And I really need to get off the darn internet!

Let me know if you are touched by this story as well!

One of those days.

Well, today started out decently well. No major hiccups.

Don parked the Jeep in the Garage (which basically we never do), and drove the other car to work.

An hour or so later I decide to finally get myself over to the dreaded grocery store. (Which by the way, I used to go to the grocery store for "fun" and spend an hour in the cereal isle scoping out new carbohydrates and granola-y type products. I had hay days with the 10 for 1o at Albertsons and came home with like 50 boxes of cereal). Anyway, these days I abhor going to the grocery store. I blame it all on Chloe, my horrible child. Okay, she is not "horrible" but she is one and she is really, really...truly terrible at the grocery store.

I lock the front door of my house, and the top latch and then head my way through the pantry door, lock that, get in my car, and drive away. I never leave through the back door, always the front. This seems inconsequential now, but is a key point to the latter part of this story. Back to my story- By this time I am talking a lot to myself about how hot I am (temperature wise, not hot as is in "ow ow! Look at the hot mama!") and begroaning my miserable, sweaty, hot life. Also, the car has a strange pickle relish smell, which Don later told me was a delightful mixture of cinnamon air freshener and mildew caused by rain wetted seats. In truth I actually liked it, it reminded me of hot dogs, and I like those. Most of the time. Like at Ball games. If I went to Ball games.

I reach my destination, AKA Dad's house. He said he would go along with me and help at the store.

The grocery store was about a 6/10, so that was not too bad. Especially since we discovered these grocery cars (I purposely wrote cars instead of carts). Super invention. I applaud the inventor, whoever that might be. I hope they are rich. They deserve to be. So Chloe drove her car and I got my groceries. Although...we are going to have to have a chat about jumping out of a moving vehicle later.
(this isn't Chloe by the way)

Grocery shopping. Check. Groceries in car. Check. Chloe strapped in. Check. On the way home. Hallelujah.

Melissa then commits a felony and talks on the phone while driving (HUGE no no with Daddy Mott). Not sure why I switched to 3rd person. But her phone dies. Oh well, we are almost home, I will just call back. (Back to 1st person I see).

I arrive home, get Chloe out, and a jug of apple juice. My plan being 1. Go inside 2. Make child bottle of apple juice 3. Put child in crib and close the door for at least 2 hours. 4. Get rest of groceries inside. 5. Call sister back while putting groceries away. 6. Watch t.v.

This is what really happened. 1. Try to open front door. Realize the top latch is locked. 2. Realize it is humanly impossible for me to get inside through the front door because I am not a resourceful male who is able to figure stuff like this out. 3. Attempt to go through pantry door through the garage. 4. The key does not work in the pantry door. 5. Attempt to use a credit card to open the door. 6. Ya right. Refer to #2, the resourceful male part. 7. Say, "I am so flippin hot" about 7 times. 8. Remember that my cell phone is dead. 9. Say "I am so flippin hot" about another 7 times. 10. Knock on 3 different neighbors doors for help. 11. Drive around the neighborhood 2 times. 12. Say "I am so flippin hot" at least another 7 times. 13. Give up and decide to drive back over to my dad's house. 14. Run into neighbor as leaving the neighborhood. 15. Petition them for water and a few morsels of bread. 16. They agree. I call my dad and store my groceries in neighbor's fridge. 17. Dad comes over. 18. Spends at least an hour trying to get it. Ends up breaking latch on front door to get in. 19. Pretty sure he had heat stroke after some strange behavior, but that is a whole other story. 20. 2 hours later...Home sweet home.

This was I am sure insanely boring. Kudos for anyone bored enough to read it. It was really intensely frustrating and I kept saying to myself, surely there must have been an easier way to solve this. Sometimes I think I am losing my brain.

It is all Chloe's fault. I would have never done something so hairbrained as locking myself out BEFORE I had her. wink wink. I am so glad I have a baby to blame things on. Like tardiness...messy house...bad clothes...smelly stuff...etc.

Funny Blog Hopping

My sister told me about this blog that is getting pretty big in Utah. So I looked it up and found myself highly entertained. Although it is sometimes painful seeing parts of yourself in the blogs she is making fun of. I guess that is why it is so funny! She brags about her totally fabulous, perfect life. And her totally awesome, hot stuff husband. And her way toned, tan body. And her gorgeous perfect 8 week old fetus. And all her fun, fabulous, awesome BFFs and GCF (Greatest Couple Friends). You should really check it out if you are a fan of sarcasm and irony. www.seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com

Melissa's Fake Blog

Well I can hardly believe I let so much time pass without posting! I mean so much has been going on, it might take awhile to catch up! Let's see-First off, Don and I took a whirlwind Good Will Tour, mostly through Northern Africa. We ran into Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Chloe did a photo shoot with her newborns. The pictures turned out really great-look for them on next months installment of "People."

After that I have been pretty busy sewing all of Chloe's clothes for the upcoming winter months. The near frigid temperatures here during wintertime call for extra care. I made sure to sew wool lining in all her pants, that is, after I hand stitched her initials on all her clothes.

Somehow I managed to also sew all my own clothes for the upcoming fall season-and it was then I realized my life long desire of becoming a famous designer-I auditioned for Project Runway-and guess what-I made it! Look for me Season 7!

With all this going on, I haven't had much time to make my usual, from scratch, spinach pasta. Unfortunately squeezing and chopping my spinach takes a lot more time than grinding my wheat, so we have had to get by with my homemade wheat pasta instead. Don is of course a little disappointed, as he loves my spinach pasta. But he realized how busy I have been and so he surprised me with a Platinum Locket Necklace, and you will never guess what I found inside! A note that read:
"You work so hard making Fettuccine-
That is why we are going on a Cruise to Tahiti!"

Gosh-can you believe him?? So tricky! It's gifts like these that make me forget about the other not so great ones, like 30 dollar pedicures.

Well I better get going-I have to go teach my Hip Hop class over at the gym- Did I mention I picked up Hip Hop after watching "So you think you can dance?" I left my curtain open one night while I was practicing and the owner of Tempe's Gold Gym walked by while out with his dog, knocked on my door, and offered me a job teaching a class! Gosh-can you believe my luck! Sooooooo embarrassing! The annoying thing though is that I have lost 10 pounds and my pants are falling off me! And all the compliments about how great my body looks, is getting really old! I'm sorry, I don't mean to be focusing on my trials-I know there are people out there who have it way worse. Well have a great day everyone!

Okay, okay, I sort of got carried away. The real story is... I can hardly remember what we have been up to lately! My policy is I don't leave the house unless there is an emergency when the temperature is over 105 degrees. So I have been doing a lot of "chillin" in my "chillin" house, instead of the freakishly hot outdoors. We watched a little Olympics (mostly gymnastics) and I wanted to take a picture of my gymnast hair and post that, but I didn't. Oh by the way, guess who's camera broke again? Mine. Sigh.

The only pictures that saved on my camera was of us visiting the mall to ride the carousal.
This one of Chelsey makes me laugh. Oh a funny Chelsey story. We were watching "Independence Day" and Chelsey goes "Man. There is a lot of cussing in this movie. I have heard Son of a B- like five times." She said the real word. Maybe you had to be there, and maybe I shouldn't have thought it was as funny as I did....
Chloe really loves my dad, and I think the feeling is mutual.

This past week I went to Flagstaff and visited my Aunt and picked of my sister Liz for a little visit. Flagstaff is soooooo nice right now! We also had a great time playing with my friend Robyn and her kids. The ride home was very long! We got off to a late start. We spent awhile at my aunts trying to find my sister's glasses. Only to discover their remains lying in the grass, they fell victim to a dog kidnapping. We laughed awhile about that. And later Chloe spilled a huge cup of lemonade all over the car, herself, and my sisters (not me, thankfully). We stopped to clean it up, and the moment I took off Chloe's diaper, she started playing with her belly button and peeing all over the seat.

A couple days after getting back from Flagstaff we left to Pine, AZ for a little stay at a friend's cabin. Don joined us after his scout campout. My whole family came up too. We visited Tonto National Bridge and did some hiking, and I had a near death experience. Not really, but I did get really freaked out when I was supposed to slide down some rock with a dropoff and a pool of water a couple feet away. Despite my brief brush with death, we had a very good time.

I wish I had some pictures. This blog is probably really boring. Well I guess that is all I have to say now.

Chelsey Story

I am writing this because I think some people find my Chelsey stories funny, especially myself.

For those who don't know, Chelsey is my mentally handicapped little sister with an excellent command of the english language and a whit that she is not even aware of.

She has been spending a lot of time here with me when my dad goes to work. My dad does not like to leave her a lone because Oct. 2006 my dad was the victim of a home break in. The guy put a screw driver to his throat, then tied my dad up and tried to take off with his car and other valuables. My dad was able to escape and the guy figured it out and ran away and was never caught. My dad is already a worrier, but this experience pretty much sent him over the edge. He put in a state of the art alarm system (understandable) and there is an "Attack Cat" sign in the front window to scare off would be thieves. Which by the way, can you ever train a cat to do ANYTHING you want? Our cats would see an intruder and be like, "Hey what's up. While you are at it, can you give me some food?"

I digress. My dad also bought a huge dog house and put it in the backyard. My dad doesn't have a dog.

So you get the point. Well my sister doesn't like coming over here very much because sometimes I take over the t.v. which makes her "very, very mad."

So yesterday I heard her say, "Man. I wish I was stronger. Then I could body slam any criminals that came into my house."

She was completely serious.

I am Thankful For...

Well here are some of the latest happenings...I gave Chloe some yogurt the other day and a spoon, and she decided to make finger paint. Thanks Chloe.
And then as usual, we went to church on Sunday. And I made Don take our picture cause I got a new dress. I am vain like that. Thank you Target.
Today a friend and I took our kids and my little sister Chelsey to a water play area. This was the conversation I had with Chelsey this morning:

Me: "Hey good news Chelsey! We are going to go to Tempe Beach Park today!"

Chelsey: "Well I'll just sit and watch I am not going to go run around in the sprinklers like a banchee."

Me:"Don't you think it will be fun?"

Chelsey:" No No. I only like swimming in a swimming pool."

So she did exactly that. She sat and ate her lunch. She did put her feet in and a lady said something to her and Chelsey said back "I am sorry. I DO NOT talk to strangers!!"

I said "It's fine Chelsey. She's okay."

Chelsey said, "Noooooooo...she's a STRANGER!"

And that is when I just walked away.
Thank you Chelsey.
For some odd reason Chloe thinks it is a friendly gesture to stick her finger in other people's mouth. Thank you Jayce for being a good sport.
We had fun. Thank you Tempe Beach Park. Thank you also for being free.
