Ruby Tuesday

This past week has been "ah-ite." That is the cool way of saying "all right." Don and I had our anniversary and we ate at the Cheesecake Factory, saw a movie, and walked around the mall. You know, so kind of like we were 15 year olds on a date. Except for the Cheesecake Factory bit, then we would have just gone to the food court if we were 15. And hopefully we wouldn't have had to find a babysitter.

This is Don before the movie. We had a hard time picking a seat, as pretty much there was too many to chose from. Total audience members including us? 6.

Besides my anniversary I also turned 27 on the 27th. That's right. 27 on the 27th. That in itself merited a huge surprise party with ponies and everything. Don told me it got cancelled last minute for some reason, so we ended up just having cake at my dads. It was a REALLY, REALLY good cake. Notice my dads year water supply in the background. And Chloe. I think she looks funny too.
Don and I celebrated my birthday Saturday night. And here I am looking very pleased. Yum. I love food! And we also rented "Dan in Real Life" which by the way, is a good movie. So ya, that's all I guess.

Get Expelled-Go see it!

I know I have been on a blogging spurt lately, but I wanted to tell you all to go see "Get Expelled."


It is a new movie/documentary about the debate between darwinism and intelligent design.


It's underlying theme is free speech, and that it is becoming increasingly difficult to even mention"intelligent design" in science classrooms.


By the way, intelligent design, is not even religion, it is the idea that something more intelligent than us, had a role in getting us all here. But it is not even to classify it as "God." So it isn't even about religion, it is about alternate ideas not being allowed any consideration. And shouldn't science be allowed all possibilities for study?


Well you all know where I stand on the issue, I believe in the Intelligent Design of God, so that makes me biased to intelligent design. But this movie really isn't so much about religion as it is about free speech. Although there are some very interesting religious discussions:


For example,


Leading Darwinist and Atheist Richard Dawkins, gave an interview with Ben Stein (the maker of the documentary) and he said, of course, that there was no God.


When asked, "Well do you think there is any other possibility besides darwinism to explain how we all got here."


He replied,"The only other conceivable theory is that on some other planet somewhere, a people more intelligent than we, were able to shoot some seeds over to this planet, to get it all started."


Soooooo... He does believe in intelligent design, just not God!


And secondly, doesn't he think that idea sounds really cooky? Another planet shooting seeds?


But yet people who believe in "God" are stupid, delusional, ignorant...blah de blah blah.


It is really fascinating stuff.





Or another atheist/darwinist, when asked how things got started, said "on the backs of crystals." What?? And we're the crazy ones.





If their theories are true, Why can't they recreate life?



And by the way, this movie shows that there are many, many scientists who do find flaws in darwinism, and are open to exploring the theory of intelligent design. However they were fired, black listed and "expelled." To me that is scary and wrong. By what power, does anyone have the right to tell someone they can't think or even mention a differing viewpoint? This is America-land of the free, right??!!

Again, the debate between darwinism and intelligent design should not cause a war with politics and religion. Science should be open to all theories.

I think one scientist, I can't remember his name, made a very good point-
In science now it seems a persons worldview comes first and then the science to back it up.
Instead of the science creating a worldview.

Dripping With Nostalgia

Well I have been feeling really nostalgic lately...I found some old journals and was reading them. I can hardly even remember the things that were so important to me back when I was 15!! Time goes by too fast. It really does. Chloe will be 1 in one more month (sob)!! This year has flown by. Don will also be graduating in about a month. My little sister Chelsey will also be graduating high school in a month. And this week I will have my 3 year wedding anniversary and I will be turning 27! I was thinking how three years in college seemed so much longer than these past three years of marriage. I don't know why that is. But it is weird to think that I have now been out of college longer than I was in it! See I told you I was nostalgic! I can see how people turn 50 and wonder where did all the time went!

Anyway, all you people that might read this, I have such fond memories of you all! You have all been great friends! I really appreciate you all! I wish we lived closer and could actually get our kids together to play, instead of just reading about them on our blogs!

Prescott Getaway

Well Don and I had a very delightful weekend. We went on a little weekend getaway with his Masters Program. Sidenote: I will be so happy when he is done with the school part of it, but the social engagements are very enjoyable!
Anyway, we went to a town in AZ called Prescott. We ditched the Chloemeister with some family members. Which by the way, she apparantly seemed to not miss us at all. Which makes me both happy and sad. I most likely will be the one crying when she is sent off to kindergarten.

After our trip we went to some nieces baptisms, which is also where we met up with Chloe again. She acted really, really weird when she saw us again. She just stared at us like we were strangers and for the life of me I could not get her to smile. It made me very sad. But as you can see above, she snapped out of it and she is back to her usual self.

Things I like

Well this week has been relatively uneventful, so I can't really think of anything to blog about. Except for last week we had dinner at a Frank Lloyd Wright house with people in Don's Masters Program. That was pretty cool. It is too bad I didn't bring my camera because the house was really awesome.

so anyway, I decided to post about things I like. In my house. Since I spend a lot of time here.

My hair supplies. For anyone who knows me well, I am a little obsessed with my hair, although I think I have improved in recent years. After countless bad hair days I finally purchased this flat iron and this product called "Silk Infusion' by Chi. If you have dry, brittle, nappy hair, you must get this stuff. It is the bomb diggity.
I also love my Bare Minerals Foundation.

I love this Box. I try to keep it stocked with TP in my bathroom.

My wreathe. My friend bought it for me for my birthday a couple years back. I really like pink.

My ridiculously large fork and spoon. I first saw the large fork and spoon at Pottery Barn. But since that store is also ridiculusly overpriced, I found my knock off at Ross. I think Don told me he liked them, but then undid the comment by saying they looked like I got them at a Pick N'Save. He also said that about a Nativity I bought a couple years ago, and the nativity by the way, has mysteriously disappeared. Hmmmm. Coincidence? I think not. Fortunately, the fork and spoon are a little too large to mysteriously disappear. (FYI, Don didn't REALLY get rid of the Nativity. It's just a joke)
I have a slight obsession with throw pillows.
My laundry basket, Oh I mean Pack N'Play. Don ingeniously stored some laundry there one day, and that has been its job ever since! By the way, don't be judgemental, at least it is clean laundry.
